Data Studio

Data Studio is Google's free tool for reports and dashboards. We use it to bring GA4, Search Console and Google Ads data together in clear reports that we share with you.

What Is Data Studio?

Data Studio is Google's free tool for turning data into reports and dashboards. It launched in 2016 as Google Data Studio, was renamed Looker Studio in 2022 and returned to the name Data Studio in April 2026, which is why many people still know it as Looker Studio. It runs in the browser, with nothing to install.

Each report is built on data sources: connections to platforms such as GA4, Search Console and Google Ads, or to databases such as MySQL and PostgreSQL. Google's connectors for these platforms are free, while connectors built by other companies, for platforms such as Meta Ads, are often paid. Blending lets a single chart combine several sources, for example ad spend from Google Ads with inquiries recorded in GA4.

The standard version is free. Reports are shared like an online document, with view or edit rights, and can be emailed on a schedule as a PDF with a link to the live report. Data Studio Pro, the paid tier, adds features for organizations, such as content owned by the company rather than by individual accounts, team workspaces, business support and AI features.

Where We Use Data Studio

We prepare the regular reports for our ads and SEO work in Data Studio, most often for these jobs:

  • All Channels in One Report

We bring GA4, Search Console and Google Ads data into a single report, so you can see visits, inquiries and ad spend side by side instead of opening three platforms.

  • Ad Campaign Reports

For Google Ads, YouTube Ads and other campaigns we report spend, results and cost per inquiry by campaign and market, with a short note on what changed and what we plan next.

  • SEO Progress Reports

Search Console queries, clicks and positions sit next to organic visits and goals from GA4, so you can follow month by month which pages and searches bring results.

  • Scheduled Email Reports

Reports can arrive in your team's inbox on a set day as a PDF, with a link to the live version for anyone who wants to look more closely.

Why Data Studio?

  • Free and Directly Connected

The standard version costs nothing, and Google's connectors pull data from GA4, Search Console and Google Ads directly, with no manual exports or copied figures.

  • Always the Current Picture

The report updates from its sources, and date controls let you look at any period, so last month's numbers never need retyping into slides.

  • Shared Like a Document

You decide who can view or edit, just as with a shared document, and your team can open the report in a browser without separate access to each platform.

How We Work on Your Project

First we agree on the questions the report must answer and the few numbers that matter most for your goals, such as inquiries, sales or cost per lead. Then we connect the sources, check that the GA4 and Google Ads figures line up, and design clear pages in your brand colors.

Before handover we compare the report's figures with the source platforms, test the date and market filters and review who has access. We make sure the report belongs to your own Google account, walk you through it and set up scheduled emails if you want them.

Frequently Asked Questions

Help Center
Will reports made in Looker Studio still work?

Yes. Google moved existing reports, data sources and users over to Data Studio automatically, with no action needed on your part, so they keep working as before.

Does Data Studio cost anything?

The standard version is free, and so are Google's connectors for GA4, Search Console and Google Ads. Connectors made by other companies are often paid, and the paid Data Studio Pro tier is aimed mainly at growing teams and larger organizations.

Who owns the report?

We recommend that the report and its data sources belong to your own Google account, with us working on it as editors. Ownership can't simply be moved between organizations later, so setting it up this way from the start keeps the report with you.

Does my team need access to GA4 to see the report?

Not necessarily. A data source can run on its owner's credentials, so anyone the report is shared with sees the figures without direct access to GA4. That is why we share reports only with the people you name.
